Traditional High Cultures
Oral and Written Traditions and Rock Art as the Histories of Both Ancient and Living Peoples, Especially of the Americas before the Arrival of Europeans

The “Borgia” group of codices have traditionally been treated as religious documents, contrasting them with the more clearly historical Mixtec codices, despite many common ways of using visual symbols. But the boundaries are becoming a bit less clear, as we learn more, find actual dates in the Borgia group, and learn more about the gigantic area of central Mexico which had written history and geography and religion.
